The South Florida HEAT has experienced 13 seasons of Outdoor Track & Field, primarily with a bunch of part time competitors whose primary sport is something other than Track/Field—they simply love to come out and compete!  Nevertheless, on the Varsity/High School side, our Girls teams are currently in the midst of having won 12 consecutive District Championships, as well as 5 Regional Championships—-their first in 2007 and the past 4 consecutive, from 2014-2017.  There have be 110 individual District Winners, 11 Regional Winners, and 81 different young ladies advancing to State Championships in 146 different events, bringing home a total of 54 All State-top 8 Medals. On the Gentleman’s side, they have won 3 District Championships–2008, 2012, and 2016—and 7 District Runner-ups.  There have been 27 District Winners, 4 Regional Winners, and 31 different young men advancing to State Championships in 61 different events, bringing home a total of 26 All State-top 8 Medals.  The Gents have also had two State Championship titles—an individual performance by Craig Thompson in the Discus–2008, and the other with the 4X400 Relay by Noah Hibbert, Liam Christensen, Joshua Read, and Johnny Zolnowski. We have also had dozens who have wanted to come out to try the sport for first time and enjoy the training, learning something new, reveling in the camaraderie and fellowship, and simply learning life lessons. Our Varsity teams are coached by Bob Bemis.

The Middle School level is a tremendous place for those both just beginning to see if they may like the sport, to those who are already competitive and like to participate at a high level.  Coach Kim, who has led this wonderful team/family/ministry for 8 years, trains and loves on these athletes like no other.  The successes are multi-faceted—socially, spiritually, competitively, and athletically as well.  Over the years of Coach Kim’s guidance, the team has sent close to 30 different athletes to Middle School State Championships, in 45 different events, bringing home close to 20 All State–top 8 medals.  This is a great place to start your child competitively, as there are 13 different events to try.

The common thread for so many over the past years………….I wish I had started Track and Field earlier.
